What is Essential oil

Using Essential Oils for Cleaning

Essential oils are used along with other products when cleaning. White vinegar and baking soda are most common natural products used when cleaning with essential oils. You can make different solutions depending on the surface you are targeting.

All-Purpose cleaning

All-purpose cleaner is a multi-functional cleaning agent and can be used in various ways and surfaces.

Ingredients

  • Lemon juice
  • White vinegar
  • Hot water
  • Orange essential oil
  • Tea tree essential oil

Procedure

  • Poor 60ml of lemon juice in a bowl
  • Add 30ml (two tablespoons) of white vinegar
  • Add two cups of hot water
  • Put in 5 drops of orange essential oil
  • Add in 10 drops of tea tree essential oil
  • Mix the solution well before transferring to a spray bottle.
  • Spray the mixture in the targeted area and use a microfiber cloth or soft towel to wipe it.

Floor Cleaning

Floor cleaning products are used in routine floor care and helps eliminate dirt, bacteria and other contaminants on the surface.  Homemade product using essential oils and vinegar can be used instead of commercial floor cleaners. Ingredients

  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Hot water
  • Essential oil of your choice

Procedure

  • Add half cup of white vinegar in a bowl
  • Add 60ml (1/4 cup) of baking soda
  • Add four liters of hot water
  • Add 5 to 10 drops of the essential oil of your choice
  • Spray the solution on the floor and mop the area (you can mix the solution with water and use it to mop the floors)

Kitchen Sink Scrub

Kitchen sink requires regular thorough cleaning to prevent foodborne ailments or contamination. The process also helps eliminate built-up grease and unpleasant odors. The good news is that you can use natural cleaning ingredients to remove these stains and leave your kitchen smelling wonderful.

Ingredients

  • Baking soda
  • Cedarwood essential oil
  • Cinnamon
  • Nutmeg

Procedure

  • Add a cup of baking soda in a bowl and add five drops of cedarwood essential oil (You can use essential oil of your choice)
  • Put in a tablespoon of nutmeg and cinnamon
  • Stir the mixture well and store it in a shaker with a sprinkle top
  • After washing the utensils, sprinkle the mixture in around the sink
  • Let it sit for a few minutes and then wipe with a damp kitchen towel.

  • Do not apply essential oil directly on the skin – Just because it is extracted from plant does not make it safe to rub on the skin, breathe or eat. Natural substances can be toxic, irritating or cause allergic reactions.
  • Do not ingest essential oil – they are not safe for human consumption and can cause poisoning. It is essential to store the oils out of children reach.
